Welcome to Austin the fourth largest city in the State of Texas, Austin is the state capitol, situated on the Colorado River and is the "LIVE MUSIC CAPITAL OF THE WORLD". With three man-made lakes within its city limits, the landscape features rolling hills and live oaks. Austin’s a city that doesn’t take itself too seriously. After all, you can’t have a motto like “Keep Austin Weird” and be buttoned-up. We’re laid-back, full of energy and, yes, a little weird. Austin is the home to the University of Texas (established in 1839) which is the largest public university in the United States. Outdoor recreation include downtown hike and bike trails, Lone Star riverboat tours, river rafting, Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort, Zilker Park Boat Rental, along with water fun and cruising on Lake Austin, Lake Travis, Lady Bird Lake, and Barton Springs. We’re also like no place else in Texas. Sure, you’ll find the occasional honky-tonk and plenty of barbecue. But you’ll also find a thriving art community, filmmakers, sports fanatics, and 200 live music venues. And world-renowned festivals. The Congress Avenue Bridge spans Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin and is home to the largest urban bat colony in North America. The colony is estimated at 1.5 million Mexican free-tail bats. Each night from mid-March to November, the bats emerge from under the bridge at dusk to blanket the sky as they head out to forage for food. This event has become one of the most spectacular and unusual tourist attractions in Texas. So, check us out. Because there’s always something happening in Austin.
